Biography:

Executive Chef Alan Barnes is synonymous with culinary passion and perfectionism in every endeavour he pursues. Born and raised in England, Alan began his formal culinary training at age 17 and graduated from the City and Guilds of London Institute in England. In 1973 he realized his dream and moved to Canada. In his 38 years of experience in the hospitality Industry, both in England and Canada, you will find Four Season Hotels, Delta Hotels as well as Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver and Lord Jim’s Resort Hotel on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia in his curriculum vitae.

The Business:

In 2004 Alan Barnes realized a second dream and established his own Ricolan Chef Services Business. Alan blended “Rico”, his Labrador, who passed away in 2006, with his own name to honour the bond - that can never be broken - between both of them.

Over the last few years Ricolan Chef Services has experienced a tremendous boom. It is easy to see that Alan Barnes’ philosophy goes far beyond from being just a personal “Catering” business. The business has grown to serve bigger events and always adds THE SPARKLE TO ANY SPECIAL OCCASION. Ricolan’s team always makes sure the guests “Feel The Difference”.
